History

The Kloss/Tearney family lived on this property for over fifty years and have owned and operated the school and camp since 1963. In the early years, the five Kloss children were involved as swim instructors, camp counselors, teachers, housekeepers, and yard workers, too! In 1984 my husband, Barney, and I purchased the school from my parents, Tom and LuVerne Kloss. We live within ten miles of the school. My brother, Tim Kloss, a retired firefighter/paramedic, lives next door on two acres. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and I retired from being the Director of the school after almost twenty-five years! We have two grown sons, Brett and Bryce. Bryce manages our school office and special projects. As owners we are very involved and spend lots of time at the school.

In November 2011 we appointed Lydia Butler, who has been with the school since 1984 to be the Director. She has been Director qualified since 2007 and has held positions as an Assistant Director/Curriculum Coordinator and was our Kindergarten teacher for many years.

Our school started small with a license for twenty children and has grown to accommodate over one hundred. We are fortunate to have six wooded acres for the children to experience and enjoy. Being a family owned and operated center, we take great pride in offering a distinctive learning environment for the children and strive to provide a positive work environment for our staff. The school enjoys an excellent community reputation, and our primary source of advertisement is by referral.
